Maggie LaNoue, (Maggie Sue Benjamin), graduated from Albion College with an honors degreee in Visual Arts in 1976. Maggie comes from a family of Albion College graduates, including her older brother, Stan Benjamin, a Math major, graduating in 1972, her father, Bob Benjamin, a Math and Art major who graduated in 1942, and her grandfather, Stanley Benjamin, who graduated in 1924, studying Religion and Education.

Maggie was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in a D.C. suburb, Kensington, Maryland. She has early memories of traveling around the United States singing loudly with her brothers the Albion College cheer, "Io Triumphe" in the back of a Volkswagon van. The Benjamin summer vacations often included trips to Michigan to visit extended family.
