In response to Albion's needs for blood testing, Oaklawn Hospital in cooperation with Parks Drug Store will be setting up a blood drawing station in Parks Drug Store at the corner of Erie St. and Superior St in downtown Albion. Parks Drug Store wants to make it easier for Albion citizens to get their blood work done easier and is making the space available as a community service. To start, lab service will be available 8a -12noon, Monday through Friday, beginning next Wednesday, February 6. As additional needs become clear adjustments will be made.

Albion Community Ambulance will continue service in Albion area

Albion, MI. Although Albion Community Ambulance (ACA) will not be able to transport patients to Trillium Hospital once the hospital has closed, the ambulance service will continue to provide professional paramedic ambulance services to the city of Albion and surrounding communities. ACA, which is not owned or operated by Trillium Hospital, is the western division of Jackson Community Ambulance, a private, nonprofit ambulance service based in Jackson.

Once Trillium Hospital no longer accepts patients, ACA crews will transport patients to the hospital of their choice or the closest appropriate hospital, depending on the paient's condition. Patients may be transported to hospitals in Battle Creek, Eaton Rapids, Jackson, Lansing, or Marshall. Presently, ACA's station remains on Trillium Hospital property. If necessary, ACA will find an alternate location for an ambulance station within the city of Albion. The move will not affect delivery of emergency care.

Since 1999, ACA has served western Jackson County and the following areas of Calhoun County: the city of Albion, Albion Township, Clarence Township, the Village of Homer, Homer Township and Sheridan Township. The nationally accredited, nonprofit service provides paramedic emergency care, nonemergency transportation, special event coverage and community outreach.
