This assignment was known as a "frame painting." The project called for colors to be limited to the primary pallette (red, blue, yellow) along with some secondary colors (green, purple, orange) and black and white. The emphasis was on the frame around the design, as much as the design itself. The artist here combines straight lines with curves, geometry with organic shapes of the rainbow, and white flowers decorating the corners.
