This surrealistic painting contains shades of Salvador Dali. The dreamlike reference to the layers of reality are unsettling at best. Above the surface, one sees an amputated limb of the arm, with pools of blood and an ambiguous hammer, with shoots that may represent nails or hairs. Beneath the surface, one sees the cartoon figure of the fish from Disney's Little Mermaid, and some other images, along with a treasure chest. The effect is dreamlike and unsettling.
