Playing Cards
Another interesting assignment from teach Mrs. Meador. Here, the artists were asked to come up with a style for the face side of a deck of playing cards. This artist chose to depict a Queen of Hearts, a worthy subject. This Queen is looking closely to both sides, perhaps to see what cards are in the other hands. Her image is reflected vertically, just as are the images on real playing cards. Actually, the image is rotated in a 180 degree angle, because the eyes look two different ways. The artist chose to render her hair using loops to depict the curls, and to make the face stand out by coloring the background.
