Community Partners for Albion's Youth, an organization devoted
to networking groups and organizations focused on postive youth
development, has begun a Youth Media Bureau.
The Youth Media Bureau currently has two Editor/Writers, Brittany
T., 13, and Joseph W., 10, both of Albion.

Brittany
will be an eighth grader at Washington Gardner Middle School
this fall. |

The Youth Media Bureau summer training session is being overseen
by Catherine Kerley, former editor of the Albion Recorder
and owner of Albion Information Services.
"
The Youth Media Bureau has a dual purpose," says Kerley. "We
want to introduce young people to journalism and introduce
the public at-large to Community Partners for Albion's
Youth."
Over the summer Brittany and Joseph will work on stories about
youth activities in Albion, as well as writing columns providing
a youth viewpoint on topics of interest to young people in
the greater Albion community. Their work will be published
at AlbionYouth.com
and in The Recorder.
"
The Youth Media Bureau has been very interesting," says
Brittany. "I learn something new every Monday. It's
very important to know your peers and know who to go
to for information
about
new things going on in the world and about your environment."
Joseph agrees: "I think it's been a great way to
learn new things. I am getting to know more people and
learning
things about my own community - businesses opening and
closing, etc. "
