Overview
The Washington Gardner Middle School Collaborative
seeks to provide healthy opportunities for students to gain new
skills, develop significant adult relationships, and to give back
to their community.
These opportunities are based on the America's Community of Promise
and the SEARCH Institute's 40 Developmental Assets.
Program
Description
The
Washington Gardner Middle School Collaborative provides a variety
of opporunities for students to become involved in after school
activities which focus on leadership, mentoring, community service,
and asset building.
Both the Tobacco Reduction Coalition and the Positive Peers focus
on making a difference in the community through prevention education
and community service. STRIVE is a leadership mentoring program
where small groups 12-15 of middle school students work with Albion
College students to gain leadership skills and then put them into
action via community service and involvement in other organizations.
Each of the collaborative groups uses the America's Community
of Promise framework as well as the SEARCH Institute's 40 Developmental
Assets in providing opportunities for students.
