Parks Promise
America's Promise founding chairman, General Colin L. Powell said "The little red wagon. A symbol of childhood. It could be filled with a child's hopes and dreams or weighed down with their burdens. Millions of children need our help to pull that wagon along. Let's all pull together."

Since the Summit, America's Promise formed its Five Promises:
1. Ongoing relationships with caring adults-parents, mentors, tutors or coaches;
2. Safe places with structured activities during nonschool hours;
3. Healthy start and future;
4. Marketable skills through effective education; and
5. Opportunities to give back through community service.

AVSO and Community Partners for Albion Youth (CPAY) a group of dedicated youth leaders have collaborated and put their heads together with ambitions to become a Community of Promise.

To reach this goal they are adopting the principles from the Search Institute and America's Promise. In reaching out to fulfill the challenge in our great nation, America's Promise is pulling together the might of this nation to strengthen the character and competence of youth. And it's working.

What is America's Promise? America's Promise-The Alliance for Youth is the result of "The Presidents' Summit for America's Future," which was held in April 1997.

At the Summit, former Presidents Clinton, Bush, Carter, Ford, and Nancy Reagan plus many government, businesses, non-profits, and civic leaders, "challenged America to raise civic power to a new plateau to solve the problems of American society."

American's having witnessed the events of September 11th we all have been called to service once again by our President.

America's Promise can benefit any individual involved in carrying out the Five Promises. Both the youth and mentor learn from each other, thus creating growth for all.
