UNION STEEL SOFTBALL TEAM PHOTO, 1940

Morning Star, April 11, 2010, pg. 13

Recently Albion Auto Mart owner John Arey supplied me with a photograph of a Union Steel Products city championship softball team. I’ve not seen this photo before. It was taken in 1940. This was before the Union Steel Messenger started publishing so this photo is not in any early issues. Thanks to Joe Romanchuk and others, we’ve been able to identify everyone in this photo.

From our Historical Notebook this week we present that photograph. Front row, left to right: Addison Sigsworth, Tom Kellogg, Roger Bentley, Gerald Schumacher, and Donald Snell. Back row: Donald “Soup” McCullough, George Sibal, Paul Steffe, Philip Carrier, and Elson Tanner.
