Back in 1965, as a teenager, I lived in Albion for a little over 7 months as an exchange student, and I had wonderful times there. Albion to me is a second home that I'll always have, because its soul, or the exchange of goodwill and undesrtanding I found there still vibrates within myself just as strong as then. For sure 720 Orchard Dr. will always be with me, no matter where I go. I have no doubt that the Youngs, my hosting family, went through a lot along with me, specially Doris, my mother. Thank you Dick, Doris, Steve, wherever you are, for letting me be part of your very special world. Thank you, Doug McElhaney, Paul Burstein, Nathan Dickmeyer, Bonnie Gaskel, Dale Gardner, Mary MacPherson, Nancy Sibal, Loraine Frye, Gina Helrigel, Mr. Higbee, Mr. Ashdown and so many others for helping me to understand a little the USA and, in a manner, such a subtle manner, protecting me from what was, then, unknown. How that differs so much from the Los Angeles where, later, I went to college ( USC ) , or the New York that I frequently visit, either professionally, as a always busy lawyer running from here to there, or as vagabond tourist. Today I realize that some times it was difficult, but even though times were tough, we still accomplished to achieve a higher level of understanding. Anger, jealousy, language barrier, and all other obstacles were overcome and torn down by goodwill. For this reason, I know you will always be with me, and I hope to be back to Albion even if it is for a very short span or for just a frail glimpse. May love and peace abide with you all throughout your journey , and may the Lord guide your paths. It's nice to be able to go back in time, specially if it is to Albion , even if it's just on a virtual trip. |

I've been an exchange student in Albion, back in 1964/1965.
