"Albert Trader, Marengo Twp. farmer was sentenced to 5 to 15 years at Jackson prison, for the shooting and wounding of Charles Face of Marshall." "Extensive preparations are being made for the opening of the summer season at the Montcalm Lake Resort near Albion, on the M-17 paved way, according to R. C. Sexton of Albion, the owner." April 6, 1925. "Thomas Branoff, proprietor of the Star Bakery on Austin Ave. has returned from a European trip, in which he visited several countries, including Macedonia, his native land. He plans to move his family from Macedonia to Albion." April 9, 1925. "Perry Sharp, local contractor, had a gang of men at work today on the construction work of the new theatre for George Bohm, on S. Superior St." "A Chevrolet touring car belonging to D. M. McAuliffe was stolen this morning from its parking place on the south side of W. Erie St. alongside the Mounteer Bakery." April 10, 1925. "James and Alex Poulos today sold the Famous lunch-room at 131 N. Superior St. to Peter Papadopoulos and William D. Checkatis of this city." April 11, 1925. "Springport people who have been worried over the report that Mr. Heisler would not deliver ice here this summer, will be glad to see that the Michigan Artificial Ice Co. will deliver ice here two or three times a week and at very reasonable prices." "The Duck Lake resort hotel is open for the season and the proprietors, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Trask, have already had considerable custom from people wishing to take dinner there." April 13, 1925. "The Mutual Oil Company of Adrian has bought the old Homer Hotel on W. Main St. in Homer from Charles McArdle, Sr. The familiar old landmark will be removed to a vacant lot back of where it now stands, and an oil station erected on the site." April 15, 1925. "The Albion Scout, a paper published by members of the Boy Scouts and Lone Scouts in Albion, will be on sale this afternoon and evening at the Parks Drug Store, and Dibble Clothing Store." "The grocery store of E. N. French at the corner of Austin Ave. and N. Eaton St., was broken into about 10 o'clock Tuesday night and goods valued at about $50 were taken, including a basket of eggs, several boxes of cigars and about ten cartons of cigarettes." April 17, 1925. "The parks committee of the Chamber of Commerce is co-operating with the City Council to obtain better toilet facilities for Victory Park. It is hoped that the toilets in the old South Ward School building at the rear of Sheldon Memorial Hospital, now in disuse, may be moved to the park where they can be operated with water from the flowing wells." April 18, 1925. "Masons to Take Over Eagle Temple." Albion is to have a Masonic Temple and will lose its Eagle Temple. Members of the Eagles voted Friday evening to accept an offer made by the Masonic organizations in Albion to purchase the temple for the sum of $30,000. The Albion Aerie of Eagles, it is expected, will secure a hall elsewhere and a reorganization of the group here will probably be undertaken." April 22, 1925. "E. J. Knickerbocker, aged about 60 years, a well-known resident of Clarendon Township, was found dead in bed at his home this morning." April 23, 1925. "The Colored All-Stars, Albion colored baseball team, has signed up to play against the McGraw's, Jackson semi-pro nine, in the latter's opening game of the season to be played at the Michigan Center diamond on Sunday, May 3." April 25, 1925. Headlines: "Chamber of Commerce Acts. Directors Decide Upon Drive for a $250,000 Edifice. All of Albion's Loyal Citizens to Be Asked to Co-operate in Obtaining $250,000 Hotel. Site Chosen on Michigan Avenue." April 28, 1925. "Allen Scott, colored, of this city was arrested on Austin Ave. Monday on a charge of speeding, with the officer claiming the man was making better than 50 miles per hour." "Ruth Prine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Prine, 504 Mechanic St., fell or was thrown from one on the wings at the Dalrymple School Monday afternoon and struck a stone which cut a deep gash in her right knee." April 29, 1925. "Wiggins Bros. Sign Up As New Hotel Managers. If present plans carry through, and everything indicates that they will, Albion's new community hotel will be operated by Wiggins Brothers, a corporation of national scope now operating a chain of hotels in various parts of the country." "While gathering mushrooms near Homer Lake Sunday afternoon, Lewis Hoyt was bitten twice on the right ankle by a large rattlesnake."
