Hi. I graduated from Albion in 1984 and was editor of The Albion
Evening Recorder, which became The Albion Recorder while I was there.
I stayed until Aug. 1985, when I went to Columbia University to become
a better journalist. The sad part about leaving a town you used to
write about is that you never find out how things turned out. Did the
downtown ever come back to life? Did the small-business incubator ever
create new and successful businesses or manufacturers? Did the city
keep its city-manager form of government? And is the Festival of
the Forks still a big event? Just wondering. Will someone let me
know. ... And what's this about Albion's football team. I never
thought Albion could have a great team (no offense to the teams
of the early '80s.) I hope someone can answer my questions. Thanks.
P.S. I'm an editor for The Times of Northwest Indiana and am
in charge of the Valparaiso edition of the paper, The Vidette Times.
VU is a fine college but it can't compare to Albion or some of the
great, really great teachers I had there: James Diedrich, Hal Wyss,
Dr. Crupi, Geoff Cock, but those are just a few.
