1926 POLICE DEPARTMENT PHOTO

Morning Star, August 23, 2009, pg. 5

I hope you are enjoying my new book, “Albion in Review.” Have you purchased your copy yet? A name index is found on the www.Albionmich.com website.

In our August 2 column we featured a photo of the Albion Fire Department ca. 1910. This week we’d like to present a photo of the Albion Police Department, circa 1926. Back then our local police force only had a half dozen men (no women allowed) on duty. The police department was located at 109 W. Cass St., adjacent (west of) to the large fire department building.

From our Historical Notebook this week are pictured left to right, policemen Frank C. Grooms, police chief George A. Stoddard, unidentified, and Mort Callahan.
